The London Linen Group, of which London Workwear Rental is part, has achieved Runner Up status in this year’s ACE Sustains Corporate Awards!
Recognising top achievements in sustainability, the awards have a high profile in the industry; we have won previously for CLS’s sustainable laundry.We won with a new break-through innovation that is the first of its kind for the industry – a closed loop supply chain whereby we now recycle all of our textile waste which is then used to make Bags for Life.
100k of these bags will be available across 728 M&S stores nationwide – you will be able to purchase them from September. Every bag sold raises money for UNICEF – it is hoped initially the contribution will be in excess of £250k.

Roger Oliver, former owner of The London Linen Group, felt the time was right to sell the market leading hospitality linen rental company in London’s catering and restaurant market. He is confident the joining of our two companies will maintain the excellent growth achieved over the past years. He believes there are good opportunities in the markets the company serves and that the management team is strong and capable of ensuring the careful development of the business into the foreseeable future.
Johnson Service Group is looking to develop the group even further, recognising its core strengths for further future growth.
Within London Workwear Rental, it is definitely ‘business as usual’ – the branding, employees and location will remain the same. Customers will see no difference in operations; the day to day running of the business will be unchanged. The London Linen Group and Johnson Service Group have similar family ethos. The group will continue to focus on servicing the restaurant, casual dining and contract catering markets and be a significant contributor to the Johnson Service Group. The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health have compiled a report regarding the essential requirements for the effective laundering of linen. This government adviser at the forefront of environmental and public health & safety highlight within their findings the potential dangers within the industry of domestic washing, recognising that items laundered by a commercial laundry are more likely to meet legal obligations of cleanliness.

These awards are given in recognition and celebration of companies’ achievements in sustainability. We are honoured to have achieved these accolades. As with our other successes, these awards are a testament to the hard work that everyone in the organisation puts in to ensure that we operate as sustainably as possible. In an industry first, London Workwear Rental has launched EkoChef – the most innovative and sustainable chefs wear jacket available to the hospitality industry in the UK.
Made from recycled bottles and waste polyester fibre, this new groundbreaking chefs jacket has all the durability, quality and comfort required for a chef’s jacket, but with a significantly lower environmental impact. It takes 25 two litre water bottles to make just one chefs jacket, saving 2.5kg CO2 per jacket compared to the disposal of the same amount of bottles by incineration. This coupled with an 80% reduction in energy required for production and a significant overall reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, ensures the EkoChef Jacket offers environmentally conscious restaurants, hotels and caterers a highly innovative and more sustainable chefs wear option. Alan Murchison, Executive Chef at L’Ortolan, La Bécasse, Paris House and The New Angel, has supported the initiative. The London Linen Group, of which London Workwear Rental is part, are celebrating a very successful Hospitality Show at the NEC. We loved our days at the NEC in Birmingham. It was great to meet and chat to our customers and potential customers about our national kitchen and hospitality workwear and linen hire service. It all proved very successful indeed.
